They will need some shade . Go buy some super thrive and soak them in it for about 10 minutes then plant . Good luck . You can buy it at walmart .

Use a good quality peat soil
The rot could be cause from over watering…water early in the morning and ONLY water the spoil…never water the leaves…Burn…to much afternoon sun, (morning sun is always the best )…use a shade cloth…we use them all the time here as it is well over 100 most of the summer…Make sure that if anyone smokes they do not handle the plant…they are very sensitive to nicotine. Feed them regulary…they are heavy feeders and your tomatoes will love you!
First of all, for full size tomatoes, that is not cherry tomatoes, you need alot of space for the roots. your best bet is someting as big as a 33 gallon garbage bad fill this with good soil and the in a hole in this soil about 6inches deep and 5 inches across make a mixture of 1/2 dirt, 1 cup bonemeal and water enough to make a thick muddy paste about the consistency of thick pancake batter. Put the already started plant’s roots and half the stem into this mixture. Then fill the rest of the hole with the dirt. Around the entire plant about 2 inches deep (if the bottom leaves are not this tall yet go up to them and later add more) surround the plant stem with dry organic matter ( ie leaves, dried grass clippings, etc.) outwards about 6inches. Keep this continually replenished as it will eventually rot into the soil.
This will keep the ground moist, and will as stated enrich the soil at the same time. The bonemeal is great for the fruit and the plant will grow very well.
i grow tomatoes every year in the garden. they are in the sun all day every day. besides rain, i water them once every 3 days. i have a drum i catch rain water in. i don’t use tap water because of the chemicals.
There is no secret when it comes to tomatoes. They are annuals. They will grow as long as you provide them with water food and sun. However, there are a few little things to know. If they rot, that usually means you are getting their foliage wet. They don’t like to get wet. Therefore water at the root only and if you can, plant them in an area with an overhang to keep them from rain. If they are burning that means you are either fertilizing them too much, or you missed a day or two of watering. If you are on a patio, I would recommend watering twice a day. Especially if you are south facing. Good luck.
always mix 1 tablespoon of epsensaltz with the soil b/4 planting. i always add sand to the top 1/2 inch of the planting area, ( ie. pot) the sand wicks moisture away from the stem so it won’t rote….hope this helps
I suggest using red clay pots to grow tomatoes. They hold moisture very nicely, and work well even in fairly warm temperatures. Keep the tomatoes evenly moist, but not wet; root rot is generally a sign that you are overwatering a plant (not just tomatoes). If you had your tomatoes in an area where they got burned, that might actually be a good area IF you get some shade cloth to give them a little bit of cover; I’d try that spot again with the shade cloth in place.
